BIO: Lisa Lariviere Lorenz was born in Montreal, Canada. While working for a major Canadian railway company, she studied Marketing, Advertising & Graphic Design at Concordia University's CCE. In 1996, Lisa left the corporate world with her husband and has since travelled, worked and lived all over the world in Switzerland, South Korea, Denmark, and Africa for over 23 years. She now resides and works back in Basel Switzerland. Her extensive travels have given her a very broad outlook of the world, as well as providing her with wonderful inspiration for her paintings. Painting her impressions of the places she has traveled is her way of reminiscing and sharing such colorful scenery and memories.
Lisa uses a bold radiant palette to create her colourful and stylized paintings. Her work is characterized by creative compositions, exaggerated perspectives and her strikingly effective use of colours and pattern. You will also discover the interesting use of the 'cloisonnism” technique in her compositions where she outlines her design with a bold contour emphasizing her artwork.
Her lively colourful compositions evoke in us a sense of happiness and a smile. Her paintings are unique in style and consistently delightful to look at and are guaranteed to brighten up your day.
Over the years, Lisa's unique style of painting has captured the attention of many and her creative, colourful and stylized paintings have become recognized and sought after worldwide. Her work hangs in private collections in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America.
Passionately and vibrantly is the way I like to live and the way I like to paint. I love to travel and am inspired by the wonderful places I visit; particularly the exquisite architecture across Europe and deep in my heart are the coastal villages of the beautiful Italian & French Riviera with their vibrant buildings, landscapes, and the majestic sea with its boats and harbours full of imagery and romance. I love to recreate these scenes and my impressions thru my paintings. It is my way of reminiscing and sharing such colorful scenery. I always paint the way I see things, the great impression it left on me and the way I want them to be seen. I want my paintings to captivate my viewers to explore the details of my compositions.
I work mostly from my imagination, sketches and my own travel photos. I like to capture the essence of the architecture and landscape, stylizing it with colour, design and perspective making it my own. I never strive to paint an exact copy of the subject matter, but rather share my impression thru my compositions. I paint mainly with acrylics, which I adore for their intensity and versatility. I paint with bright colours, bold lines and experiment with juxtaposition of colors, and patterns. My work involves many layerings of paint and is then further defined through the use of outlining the composition, all done with a fine brush. I use this outlining/cloisonné technique extensively in my work emphasizing my colours, shapes and structures in my paintings
When I paint, I relive the magic, colours, and wonders of my travels all indicative of the many places and aspects of life I find intriguing. My paintings are one of a kind in nature; a piece of my inner self, Each piece is done with many hours of devotion from the planning, sketching to layering of many colours, brush strokes and lengthy outlining. I know I have achieved my goal, when my paintings make you smile!
